Alexander

Zone 3-5. Fall.  Origin Russia.  Named for Czar Alexander,  this huge apple is great for all purposes.

Antonovka

Zone 3.  Fall.  This popular rootstock produces a delicious all-purpose yellow apple.  If planted, the seeds tend to stay true to the variety.  You can plant your own rootstock. Sold out

Black Oxford

Zone 4-7. Late Fall.   Deep dark burgundy color like black cherry.  Absolutely delicious. Highly flavored.  A homesteader’s apple in that it keeps until June!   Limited Quantity!

Chestnut

Zone 3-5.  Late Summer. This heirloom is fresh eating to perfection!  Rich, nutty and sweet flavor is incomparably delicious.



Cortland

Zone 3-5. Fall.  The Cortland is a widely grown New England Apple.  They offer a great balance of sweet and tart, make a great single-variety cider, and are super for baking.  They are unique in they don't turn brown when exposed to the air.

Crimson Beauty

Zone 3-5. Summer.  This apple originated in Woodstock, NB by horticulturist Francis Peabody Sharpe.  This summer gem is worth a try.   It ripens a week ahead of the Yellow Transparent. Juicy and tart. Good for fresh eating and cooking.

Duchess

Zone 3-5.  Late summer.  This heirloom is still widely grown in Maine. It produces a large tart fruit that is good for fresh eating and is the best early -season cooking apple there is!

Dudley Winter

Zone 3-5.  Fall.  Originated in Perham,  Maine. This superb Aroostook heirloom is truly noteworthy. Once widely grown, it has all but disappeared in New England, but is still popular in New Brunswick. This is a good all-purpose apple. 

Enterprise

Zone 3-7.  A modern apple bred specifically for disease resistance.  Scab free with a balanced sweet/tart flavor.  A great all-purpose apple that stores 2-3 months.

Gold Rush

Zone 3-7.  Late Fall.  Very tart when picked. Ripens off the tree with a rich spicy flavor and sweet undertones reminiscent of its parent Golden Delicious.  Sweetens as it ripens in the fridge. Stores for 2-3 months.  Scab free. Highly disease resistant.

Honeycrisp

 Zone 3-7. Fall.  This is a fantastic apple!  The large red fruit has a super balance of sweet and tart.  The yellowish flesh is juicy and has a nice snap when you bite into it.  Honeycrisp is one of the few fall apples that has superb winter storage quality. They hold excellent quality for 4-6 months.

JW Cinnamon Spice

. Zone 3.  Fall.  Not Available this year.  Unusual red on white color with an even more unique cinnamon flavored finish.  Originated on our farm in Fort Fairfield.  All purpose.

Legace

Zone 3-5. Fall. This Aroostook apple originated in Van Buren and is one of the best! The large all purpose fruit is good for fresh eating, cooking and cider. The small tree is easy to pick and early bearing.


Liberty

Zone 3-7. Fall.  Beautiful red fruit with fine white flesh. Great for fresh eating, cider, and cooking. Stores 2-3 months.  Highly disease resistant.

Lodi

Zone 3-5. Summer. Named for Lodi, NY.  A much improved version of Yellow Transparent. It's earlier, bigger and less easily bruised than other Transparents.

Macfree

Zone 3-7. Fall.  This McIntosh bud-sport is highly aromatic and has the same superb sweet/tart flavor as the original and doesn't get scab.  Ripens about two weeks later than its parent.  Stores well and becomes more flavorful while in storage. 

Macoun

Zone 3-7. Fall. One of our favorites. McIntosh x Jersey Black. One of many varieties bred to be a better McIntosh. Most failed.  Not Macoun. Strong Mac flavor with a better juicy snap and a hint of wine.

McIntosh

Zone 3-5. Fall. This is a variety of Mac from the 30's. Classic Mac flavor.  A perfect juice-spurting crunch with every bite.

New Brunswicker

Zone 3-7. Fall.  A very tart apple that bears annually. The original seed for this variety was imported from Russia by Francis Peabody Sharpe in the 1850's and is still grown commercially in New Brunswick. Excellent for cooking and sauce.

Pristine

Zone 3-7.  Summer. Heavy bearing.  Ripens mid-August.  Canary yellow with a red blush.  Firm white flesh.  Unique sweet/tart flavor with a hint of vanilla.  All-purpose.  Extremely disease resistant.  Scab free.

Redfree

Zone 3-7.  Summer.  Sweet with a hint of tart. It is unique in early apples in that it has firm flesh and can be stored for up to 2 months. The attractive glossy red fruits do not drop easily and will remain firm and juicy on the tree up to two weeks after maturity.  Highly disease resistant.

Serendipity

Zone 3-7  Fall. Fort Fairfield,  ME.  Our flagship apple.  Large deep red fruit.  Very distinct pink flesh when fully ripe.   Very complex flavor with an overtone of berries.  Each bite seems to taste a little different.  All-purpose.  Insects don’t seem to be very interested in this apple and it rarely gets scab, even in a bad season. 

Spice Sweet

Zone 4.  This is a wonderful dual-purpose apple.  It's sweet with a definite apple spice taste.  Great for fresh eating and great in pies.  Limited Quantity! Sold Out

Sweet Sal

Zone 4.  Sweet! Sweet! A  good answer to the tart apple.  Easy to grow.   Limited Quantity.  Sold out

Sweet 16

Zone 4. Sweet and wonderful flavor. Yellow swirled flesh. The most colorful description I've seen is like vanilla with a splash of bourbon.   Limited quantity

Westfield Seek No Further

Zone 3-7.  Fall.  It's been called “the best apple in the world” since the 19th century.  Firm, crisp,  juicy.  Highly flavored.  All-purpose.  Limited Quantity


Wealthy

Zone 3-7. Winter. Originated in the 1860's and popular in Maine in the 20's and 30's. Wealthy apples have a sharp and refreshing flavor with notes of honey, strawberries and raspberries.

William's Pride

Zone 4-7. Summer. Complex, airy and sweet flavor with a hint of pear. Needs to be picked every few days as the fruit doesn't ripen all at once. Pick when deep red, wait a few days and then pick and eat some more! Highly disease resistant.

Winekist

Zone 4-7. Fall. Something of a novelty, Winekist has deep burgundy skin with deep red flesh. Try to visualize red apple pie and red applesauce. Very tart.

Wolf River

Zone 3-7. Fall. Gigantic grapefruit -sized apples that are great for fresh eating, cooking, and cider.  Two apples make a pie!

Yellow Transparent

Zone 3-5.  Summer.  There is no applesauce like that of a transparent.  Tart, creamy and smooth as silk.   Great for pies too.
