Trees

We now offer one and two-year-old apple trees for most varieties listed on our site.  All grow well in Northern Maine.  The best time to buy and plant a bare-root tree is in the fall, late October through November when the tree is dormant.  We sell during a short window in the spring, April 15- May 10.  After that, your tree will break dormancy and should not be transplanted.  We can pot your tree for an additional cost, allowing you to grow it over the summer and plant it in the fall once it goes fully dormant in late October.

Bare Root Trees $25

Potted Trees $40 5gal. pot

We sell bench grafts. Bench grafting is a process where a cutting from a parent tree is grafted to a root.  The grafts are produced sitting at a workbench, thus, the term bench graft.  This allows the grower to “clone” a desirable variety by grafting it to a healthy disease-resistant rootstock.  The typical potted tree has been grafted and grown out for 2-3 years.  A consumer has an advantage if you buy the bench graft and grow it yourself.  It costs less than a potted tree and is easy to plant and transport.  Most of all, you can access more varieties than you’ll ever see in a store.

All grafts are $15.

Order bench grafts before  April 25

The Future: We have begun propagating zone 4 hardy Plums, Pears, Sweet Cherries, Pie Cherries, Peaches, Hazelnuts, Black Walnuts, Sugar Maple, and Elm Trees.  The walnuts and hazelnuts are grown from seeds from our trees and bushes.  The rest are grafted from fruiting trees on our property, even the peaches!   Please be patient.  It will take a few years for these to grow out to a saleable size.
